It’s a question of space. So many of us just don’t have enough which is why at RAMS we have a select number of storage spaces at our Hangar available to rent by RAMS Members.

How many slots are available?

At the moment there are 5 slots available to hire (4 on the racks and one from the ceiling). We want to ensure the approach for providing plane storage facilities is fair for every member so we have developed some rules (below) around how this is provided on an equal basis and based upon the demand for storage.

At the AGM in August, 2022 there was a moderate degree of interest in the storage space concept. If the demand exceeds the supply we will need to do a random ballot to ensure the process is fair for all.

Can anyone rent a slot?

Only financial RAMS members are permitted to rent a slot.

How much does it cost?

The cost of renting one slot for your plane is just $2 per week. This is normally paid 12 months in advance so it coincides with our membership fees (July – June) and can be paid all at once (A total of $104 for the year).

What about if I join in November for example? *

The cost of the slot can be paid on a pro-rata basis based on a per quarter or part thereof. That is, for example, if you join in November you will need to pay for 3 quarters up to the end of the next financial year (30th June)…

  • (Oct, Nov, Dec) = $26
  • (Jan, Feb, Mar) = $26
  • (Apr, May, Jun) = $26
  • Total of $78

* This is being discounted for the first year we are running it 2022 as 1st November to 30th June 2023 is just 35 weeks = $70-

How do I book a slot? (or at least get on the waiting list)

Please send an email to the RAMS Secretary advising your interest in renting a slot. The Secretary will note your interest in a central register and, at the appropriate time, will contact you to confirm if you still want the position and what you need to do to secure it.

Does RAMS accept any risk of damage to my plane during storage?

Simply put, no. We are a small club and while we will always do our best at ensuring no harm ever comes to your aircraft we are not able to provide you any reassurance or insurance around damage to your plane. Existing MAAA insurance does not cover the storage of non RAMS owned assets.

What happens if someone doesn’t want their slot anymore?

The RAMS Secretary will consult the waiting list and the first one on the list gets will be notified of the vacancy, if that person doesn’t require it any more it will go to the next, if there is no more people on the waiting list the Secretary will notify all members there is a slot available. If there are more than 1 applicant for the slot there will be a ballot to determine who gets it.

Can one person have more than one slot?

This all depends upon demand. If we have 5 slots available and only one member shows up and says, “I’ll take 3 of them” then we will rent them out to the one person. If we get more enquiries for slots than we have available, and there is someone who is occupying 2 or more slots, that person must give up one of their slots to accommodate a fair approach to all members.

As required, a refund will be provided to the person relinquishing their slot for any remaining time (by quarter).

We will always work with our members to achieve what is fair.

Do I get a refund if I no longer need my slot?

Yes. We obviously want to make this as fair and as reasonable as possible so if you no longer need your slot please give us 2 weeks notice so we can advertise for someone to come in an take over the slot.

What if I just go on holidays?

If you are going on holidays for example, for 2 weeks, we cannot suspend payments for that period of time. If you give up the slot you run the risk of someone taking it over. Once they have taken over the slot they now have priority on that slot.
